What a great day

I spent the day with the kids and we played outside. I put up a hook so we could finally put up Sophia's strawberries. Dexter and Sophia played in the water together. Then Travis surprised Sophia and was home in time to take her to baseball practice!! We all went to DQ for dinner and ice cream. Then to cap off the night Sophia rode on Ole Smokey with me while I mowed the yard. Right now I am cuddling with my little man and then I'm off to bed. I love days like these!!

Music lover

I love watching or listening music with Dexter. As soon as he hears a beat, he dances. It's the cutest thing. I think he's going to be a drummer. He starts playing everything he touches!!

Mud fight!

Well it's been a fun day! Started off with sunshine and t ball pictures for Sophia. Then off to gymnastics! After coming home for a bit Sophia had her first t ball practice. That was super fun. And Travis helped coach a little bit. She has a fun team. Then dinner where both children entertained us. Dexter dances and Sophia told a lot of silly stories. Mostly made up goofiness.
So when we got home it had been raining for about an hour and I got Sophia and we went out and played in the rain which ended up being an all out mud fight. War paint and all. I highly recommend adults playing in the rain at least once a year!! We had a ball!! Then showered up an came in for a movie!!! Love my kids more and more everyday!!

Cuddles

Well Dexter was sick again today. He seemed to progressively get better. My favorite part about it, and this may seem weird is that I love that he was a cuddler today. He's not much of a snuggler so I really enjoyed him wanting me to just hold him. He's such a sweet boy. I am so madly in love with both of my kids.
Sophia continues to amaze me with her carefree adventurous spirit. She and Travis went outside and played catch for a bit tonight. She is a natural. She's going to be a sports girl.

This morning Travis was getting Sophia ready for school and she said he looked tired. He the. Told her about how we were up late last night because Dexter was sick. She told him that maybe he could take a nap when he got home. Travis said really? She said no dad. No.
My other love If the day was when Travis told her about Dex begin sick and she said "oh my poor sweet little Dexter." She's so in love with her brother.

A simple walk

Just got home from a walk. Sophia found some water going Dow. The side of the street draining slowly from a clogged rain pipe.  She quickly picked a small white flower and decided "to watch it go down the river she found". She's such a cool kid.  With such a great sense I curiosity. I hope she never loses that!!

Great days

Today started off yucky with me in bed late because I felt terrible. Then after getting up and going it turned out great. I took the kids in a walk to Lincoln Park. They had fun. Came back to help clean out the garage. Sophia was drawing with sidewalk chalk and Travis asked her what se was drawing. Her reply "something awesome!" I love these kids. They bring so much joy to our lives. On Friday they were puking all over us and its funny how you go straight into parent mode. Nothing else matters except making sure they are ok. Today we were all feeling great and spent an awesome day out in this beautiful weather!!

Sick

Tonight was our first double kid puke fest. Sophia started puking while out at the movies with me. I got her home and settled and the I heard Travis yell for me. Dexter puked all over the place. And so then Sophia started puking again. We are all settled now and hopefully the worst is over.

Mails here

Everyday Sophia takes her little stool out to the mailbox to pick up the mail. Well today she brought home something from school to help her out!!
Today at school was the day a police car came. They got to look through it. I asked what was in it and her only answer was a computer!!
She also told me today that her friend Kendall's mom got fires from bible school so they don't go there anymore!!

Awesome guitar

Today while riding with me in the car to return some movies, The Ghastly Ones came on my radio. Sophia said "Dad they don't sing in this song, but the guitar is awesome!" Yeah my kid rocks.

Fun day

Today was just a lazy day here at home. Sophia went out and played in puddles. The rain this week has been crazy. We have a flooded basement.
She also spent the afternoon blowing bubbles. The other exciting event was that paw paw sent us a picture of Sophia's new ride!  Dear god help us all!!

Sophia described our patio tonight and how she would swim in it if there was enough water!!
She also played with the neighbor before it rained. She rode her bike so fast through the puddles the back of her shirt was covered in mud!!

Dex was playing with a little piano toy today and and the lady sand tweet tweet tweet. And Dex said tweet tweet!!

Sophia an Travis' conversations last night
As per Travis:
She asked me if I liked working an I said I needed to work to make money for us to live and she ended up telling me I could have all the money in her piggy bank so I could stay home. And now I have some tears in my eyes.

Kites

Took Sophia to do my favorite thing in the world. She didn't like the sound of her kite so she wanted to quit. So we played at the park a bit and then came home. I flew my old ladybug kite with her an he had a blast. She loved it. Stayed out in our yard for over an hour flying. Only one mishap and dad got it off the roof!! So much fun. And Dexter enjoyed watching as well.

Today after I picked Sophia up from preschool we stopped for our favorite treat (besides custard cup) a Wendy's frosty. She got her frosty and promptly said "hey mom the twist on top looks like the hill on Jack the pumpkin king". "You know Sally walked up that hill one time right?"

Sophia continues to amaze me on a daily basis. She is funny and so intelligent. She is a social butterfly and makes friends with almost everyone she meets. She is TRULY an amazing and wonderful child. She is so madly in love with her baby brother. She always thinks of him first. She continues to tell us one day I'm gonna marry Dexter because he is the best baby brother ever. She's awesome.

Dexter is walking everywhere now. He is still unsure about himself walking so he often just sits and then crawls because its quicker. He began walking at 9 1/2 months and he's slowly starting to master the skill. He amazes us more and more. He loves his big sister and although his first word was da da. Sissy was very close behind. And he still refuses to say mama. Done is another word he's been saying. Yesterday as mom was leaving the house she yelled love you and we all heard his say very clearly love you. But of course he won't say it anymore!!
I'm excited because we are painting his bedroom this weekend. Batcave here we come!

We have amazing children. We are truly the luckiest parents.

Good day for a walk

What a gorgeous day. While driving up north to pick up Leighton off the bus Sophia told me that there are certain garages in houses that you have to pay money to park in. They are houses on our street and when the money thing is full then the door opens!

She also told me she wants to put a sticker of zombie Uncle Ryan on the car.

We took a long walk tonight. Covered a large part of the neighborhood. Both kids loved it

Spring is in the air

So today we went to a few birthday parties. It was my grandpas 80th birthday so my mom helped throw him a surprise party.

Sophia loved being outside today and she also LOVES having the windows down while riding in the car. This is something's she's always enjoyed!

Dexter loves when the wind blows. He scrunches up his nose and grins.

We are so happy the weathers changing and starting to get warm. Outdoor fun here we come!!

We started taking pictures of all of Sophia's art work tonight. Instead of keeping every single things she does we are taking pictures of items and putting them in a book. Much like this blog!! But for the kids' art.

Today's joy

Sophia told her grandma that your brain is like a computer and it tells you when to fart.

Travis took the kids to the park. It was dexters first trip to play at the park.

Then they went to Dairy Queen. She said dad we have to come here tomorrow at the same time so I can get that crazy good hot fudge.


It was also dexters first trip to Springhill cemetery. We love to go there and take walks. I missed these adventures because I spent the day with my awesome mama!!

Day one

So thanks to a mommy meeting I am excited to be posting my family's day to day adventures in a blog.  Then after the year is over I will print out a book.  You can do this at www.blog2print.com.  I think it is a great way to track my day to day life as well as the great adventures my family will have throughout the years.  Keeping a nice neat baby book has proven harder than I thought.  My daughter Sophia is five and I still find myself updating what happened in year one! So todays a new day and I can't wait to start.

Things that were wonderful about today.

1. It was a beautiful sunny day and I took the kids out for a walk. Sophia is riding her bike without training wheels so well. She learned at the end of last summer so there wasn't a ton of time for her to ride.  Now she can't wait to go outside to ride.  Dexter rode along happy as could be. He is such a happy baby.  He is laid back and just a fun boy.  He did a lot of dancing today while sissy was at school.  I love to play music for him.

2.  After eating dinner at the Great Wall we were reading our fortunes in the car.  I read mine first, then Travis and then we hear from the back "Hey! Here's mine....I can't read!"  I don't know why it was so funny but I bent over laughing so hard at Sophia.

3. Sophia came downstairs tonight after being put in bed and she was sleep walking. I asked her what she was doing and she said "Oh nothing" So I told her to go back to bed. Which she obliged!

4. Travis went out with a friend to a movie tonight. I think he needed it.  He is an amazing dad and sometimes he needs time away. I think all parents need a "me" night every once in awhile.

Well that's it for today. I think tomorrow will be fun. I am going to Champaign with my mama. We are going to a home and garden show. I need ideas for my yard.  I am super excited to have a yard worth planting things in and making it pretty!
